Opie is a 13y/o Lab/Shepherd/Beagle? mix who weighs about 35 pounds. Opie needs a chance at a good life- one that she really hasn't had so far in her life. She is looking for the perfect retirement home- where she can enjoy her senior years! She is very loving and loves to lay around with people and be wherever they are. She is great in the house and is fine when left alone. No chewing or destructive tendencies.
A few years ago she was hit by a car AND a bus, so she has a limp and a painful front elbow. She would prefer a home with few steps that she would have to climb. She is up to date on her shots.
Opie lived most of her life with a family but when they moved 5 years ago- they left her behind. Another family took her in and she lived with 3 kids- but then that family started to have personal issues and she ended up in the animal control shelter for the 3rd time. The parents at that point decided that they weren't going to pay to get the dogs out. So Opie and her dog pal (a 1 year old black Lab) ended up stuck at the shelter and out of time. One of the children's foster parents went to the shelter to save the dogs from probably death at the shelter- since the dogs were out of time.
The Lab has since been adopted- but everyone who had said they would take Opie has backed out. The foster who currently has her is unable to keep her as her other female dog does not get along with Opie. Opie would prefer a home with older dogs. She does have some jealousy issues with other dogs- so she needs to be fed seperate from any others. She is currently living with cats- but she does like to pester them- so either cats that are very used to dogs or a home without cats would be best. |
