Feb 5 Update
Here are the pics of Darla - I wish they could capture her full personality! She is about 28lbs which is a bit bigger than the 15lbs estimate that I gave last week (must be the puppy factor!). She is a doll and a very quick learner.
I’m a sweet, sweet girl who loves to play but will melt in your arms when you hold me! I love to cuddle, play with toys, and chase that spot (laser pointer) on the floor I just don’t know why I can’t get it! There is a bell at the back door for me to ring whenever I have to go potty, and I am learning quickly to sit, wait, not to jump, and would love to show you how well I ride in the car when you take me home forever!
Darla is a black lab mix pupster who made the long journey into night only to be turned away by her original rescuers due to the sniffles :( Thankfully, ALR was on site and subsequently snatched up these babies (Darla, Marble, Michael, Boots, Fawn and Alice) before they were driven another two hours back to the kill shelter only to be PTS. Over a cold? - who could be so cold-hearted? Not ALR. Our founder looked at these precious pups and one by one cradled these babies while we rearranged the back of her car to make room for our 2 adults plus 6 babies.
In the short time we have had Darla - she has not only thanked us with a multitude of puppy kisses (puppy breath still in evidence) she has also amazed and delighted her foster by becoming completely house and crate trained!! Seeing that Darla is a mere 3 mos, that is quite a feat for such a little tyke and while we originally named her for one of the 'Little Rascals', she's turned out to be anything but. There is nothing rascally about Darla - she is as sweet and shy as the day is long.
11.16 ~ UPDATE from her Foster
I’m a sweet, sweet girl who loves to play/rough house with my foster sister Jayla but will melt in your arms when you hold me! I love to cuddle, but sleep in my crate at night and only cry for a few minutes before falling asleep. I wake my foster mommy up once during the night to go potty (both) outside and cry again for a few minutes when she puts me back in my crate, but soon fall back asleep until about 7am.
I love to chew cardboard, play with toys, and chase that spot (laser pointer) on the floor I just don’t know why I can’t get it! There is a bell at the back door for me to ring whenever I have to go potty, and I am learning quickly what it means and what I am suppose to do, although I am not completely house broken. I am also learning to sit, wait, not to jump, and would love to show you how well I ride in the car when you take me home forever!
