The vet's office said goodbye as they handed Elliot over for us to take him to camp (woof). He was very excited to take on the next adventure wagging his tail as he pulled me through the parking lot. He hopped in the back seat of my truck where he was well mannered for the hour drive into town. For the short time I had him on a leash he was eager to follow his nose, but mostly responsive when corrected. At Camp Woof, the friendly people received him and after a short inspection introduced him to the group already playing. Elliott made friends without any delay or hesitation- in fact, he and Cricket (another ALR camper) took a fast liking to each other. When he approached too close to a cot already occupied by a more dominant dog that stood up, barked and postured in defense of its territory, Elliott assumed a submissive position and did not further provoke the insecure dog. We took Elliott out of the group at recess to take a few new pictures. Having released some of his energy, he was more responsive to our commands and energetically bounced back and forth between my wife and me (it was still hard to get a representative snapshot). After Elliott was returned to the group and we borrowed Cricket to spread the attention, Elliott longed to be back with us for more play and petting. We note that Elliot is not enticed by food or treats, he was not interested in the pretzels we were eating nor the treats available from the desk at Camp Woof. He is clearly a smart and energetic pup. I imagine after some exercise and given some time away from the kennel, he would be dialed in at the right speed for a young family with kids equally eager to play.

Thanks for the opportunity to spend time with the ALR dogs Elliot is currently being vetted. What a sweet boy...and on the small side, only 58lbs. Why oh why his owners never reclaimed him after being notified is anyone's guess. Good news for us! But since he is a little skinny at the moment, we will be working on getting him back to optimal weight and in the interim, (and after a day of pampering and a spa bath!) posting his new pictures soon. Check back!
