| I showed Julie at our last adoption. I thought, finally, I will come to know this girl. Julie is part shep, part lab - a lovely pairing, harmoniously at play in this peppy girl. Becoming acquainted was effortless, she needs little encouragement - her personality literally spills over! As a means of introduction, she shimmied up and gave me the most perfect, fanciful canine curtsy I've ever seen or figured me a fellow frolicker and was play bowing to me?! What a hoot! Not to be dissuaded she moved on to her fellow fosters, said a brief howdy do and settled in for the balance of two hours. Julie's the type not to be outdone. If another dog was receiving belly rubs, she flopped right down and looked to me to fulfill - subtly. If someone was headed down the aisle, stopping to visit one of her counterparts, she sat patiently awaiting acknowledgment. A simple head pat would do, but more times than not, Julie invited them to sit and stay a while! Most were happy to oblige. Her sweet soulful eyes and steady unwavering gaze are her hook and she's no dummy! She knows when to step up her game and when to wrap it up. No small feat for a young girl full of energy, looking to express herself and accentuate all her doggie goodness. Winding down, Julie is a sweet, tender girl. If camped out in her mind, I expect I'd see a glimpse of all she's endured played out over and over again. I don't imagine Julie shined at the shelter - largely overlooked, but pleading for the chance, it was her loving, energetic, sweet and silly personality that won out shelter Vols across the board. They contacted us. Granted, she doesn't look like a traditional lab - we don't care a bit - she has lab swirling in her nonetheless - the embodiment of which is seen daily in her characteristic labby persona. Suffice it to say, we were fast friends by the end of the day - a triumph to Julie and her well-defined approach to a versatile doggie debut!! |
