Nan and Leo are 4 month old yellow lab crosses who are undeniably sibs and were rescued together. This platinum pair were rescued from the DeKalb shelter when we went in to pull their shelter mate, Rowdy. Sneaky two, they caught the eye of the head of ALR and immediately set out to impress. Jumping to attention as one they launched themselves tongues first to the run door and stared up imploringly. Our outreached hand was met with kiss upon kiss, both intending to outdue the other, but managing to squeeze in a few licks of assurance to one another! Circling and tumbling round and round, this fetching duo did not lose our attention for a minute. In fact, they did not seem to mind the environs of the shelter? They were incredibly clean, healthy and well cared for - we assumed they'd made a wayward turn and were picked up wandering. In fact we did not realize they were even available. We came to learn however, that these blondies were owner turn ins who had only been at the shelter for several days. There was no time to become sad and depressed wondering where their owner was and when they would release them. Its likely they thought they were on a grand adventure and enjoying the interaction with all the other friends they'd come to know! And their circle of friends was growing daily. Had they only known how limited their time would be and that the family they knew were never coming back...We figure its karma we ended up there that day - as Rowdy kenneled RIGHT beside them wouldn't of wanted it any other way. All three were loaded up and raring to go when we pulled away from the shelter. Nan and Leo arrived to much fanfare as we had not seen any pictures as we generally do!! They were both, as one volunteer would attest "e;stinkin' cute!! Their coats are the palest yellow, almost white -- gorgeous, soft and cuddly. And while we aren't certain what they are mixed with Leo is slightly more labby than his sis, Nan. And their antics - well they resemble white puffs balls as they flop belly down in a tussle. Both crate beautifully, they were definitely raised inside a home as they are housetrained, familiar with toys and fairly bulletproof and familiar with the mundane noises of a household and even the occasional unexpected noise or event does not dissuade or hamper their shenanigans! They are like most pups their age slightly full of themselves: active, friendly - love to romp and play and rarely miss an opportunity. They are each others playmates til the end and natural charmers! They lovingly accept hugs and tolerate correction with the learned response of dogs much older. So, they have already begun training and as boring as they let us know it is with big yawns and the "e;could we get on with this"e; look glazed over in their big brown eyes - we can always enliven their willingness to continue by simply enticing them with a treat. If all of life were so simple. Fostered in a home where they are lauded with love and attention but watched with a keen eye and corrected as such, they have surpassed the baby steps we expected in terms of training - we expect graduation is not far behind! Pretty much a slam dunk - need we say more?

Well....did I mention they make the the prettiest pair of blonde bookends we've ever seen while catching a cat nap, loosely spooned
