Sammie is a 7 year old female black lab who came from a home whose family wouldn't care for her anymore. Sammie was an indoor dog for the first three years of her life and was apparently the son's dog. When he went away to college, the family decided that Sammie was to become strictly an outdoor dog and proceeded to build her a pen under a shade tree. The tree fell leaving Sammie to fend off the sweltering summer heat & seek shelter in her sole doghouse. Poor Sammie relegated to the back yard, cutoff from the family and the comforts of inside had but herself to rely on. Not so very comforting for Sammie and the family decided she deserved better. They turned to us. Our gain! Sammie is very well behaved, house trained, and does not chew anything she is not supposed to! She loves carrying around stuffed animals, lounging on cool floors in the hot summer heat, and belly rubs. Her tail thumps every time you walk by because she's always happy. Sammie is good with other dogs, not food aggressive, does not jump, and even knows a few tricks! She is spayed but due to her time spent untreated and neglected in the backyard will be treated for heartworms and various minor skin callouses. Sammie is the ideal & we can't believe our good fortune - we feel certain she would agree!
