SPARKY |
| Sparky is a seven year old black lab who just recently got his new lease on life. You see, Sparky is yet another poor soul whose life was so carelessly regarded that he was relegated to a chain his ENTIRE LIFE. Man's Best Friend??? 7 years chained to a tree? - it is beyond comprehension, beyond cruel, inhumane and it is no small wonder how these dogs do not hurt themselves in the process - many do. We have seen dogs grind all their teeth down, injure face and necks, half-strangled with bloodied, embedded collars and dragging heavy chains like medallions for miles all in an attempt to free themselves - some never to recover. Sparky is different. Not so different, in that his situation was equally as dire, but someone noticed, STEPPED UP, and he was rescued. We were uncertain what to expect? Once again we found ourselves utterly amazed. This chained up second thought is the most engaging, loving and people oriented fellow! He is not frightened, scared or inhibited - he loves ALL people and other dogs and if he has a single 'flaw' - its his level of energy! He is a seven year old who has the energy of a young adult, one who is patiently learning how to curb his frenetic enthusiasm and act his age - lol! He simply couldn't be in better hands - his foster is an extremely capable, empathetic and affectionate person. His expectations of Sparky were immediately hopeful and with time, realized. He has already worked with Sparky to teach him basic inside doggie manners, but more than that he's shown him love for the first time in his life. Sparky's response to his care and nurturing has been returned many, many times over. Currently, Sparky's enrolled at US Canine to become the perfect canine citizen while his foster travels this week - we fully expect this giddy show off to highlight all he's learned upon his return! His exuberance for life under the most heinous of circumstances and at the hand of a human only serves to renew our commitment and cements in us the desire to try and change lives like Sparkys', as we can, one dog at a time.
